2012 update
Since everyone else is updating, I thought I should update too...though there's nothing interesting to report. My life is mostly consisting of going to work (1hr 15 min), working (8-10 hours depending), coming home (1hr 15 min), eating dinner, pack lunch for next day, surf web for a few hours, sleep, then repeat until the weekend, where i catch up on sleep/ house work, get ready for the following week, or help & spend time with family (including grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc..) and friends (college and high school buds). As for my love life, it pretty much remains the same, non-existent....
I can't believe it's already 2012! actually this year is starting off bad...
our sewer line clogged up so my mom and I forked out a lot of money ( ~400 bucks) to get it fixed. My gums on one side of my mouth got swollen and had to pay some more money (90 bucks) to get it fixed (glad its improving but it still looks bad). My mom has to go in for cataracts surgery in march so I'll be helping her with that. then my uncle was in the hospital for a few days due to his heart condition (doctor says it's due to stress) but looks like he'll pull through. However there are some highlights to this year; my sis planned a trip to disneyland at the end of this month before our passes expire (plus with my sis' discount, I plan on using it for trying out some of the restaurants over there that I've never got to try, such as the Blue Bayou); Pauline's been wanting to go on a cruise so she's planning to go on one this september with me, Faye, and Adam (and possibly JR). 
With regards to work, I have also been pulled to do all kinds of assignments (been doing 8 to 10 hour days
) but fortunately they got a PM in to help me with my project management work (about damn time..been doing this on my own since august). Then our organization (IT) did 200 lay offs last year and there are rumors of some more this year. Luckily the union has been representing our group (we are not in the layoffs) but management is not negotiating (in good faith) with our (or any other) organization who are now or will be union represented. So its going to be a while before we become union (management playing hardball again) though I've been keeping my eyes peeled for electrical engineering jobs with a focus on design/planning in SF (my commute is starting to get to me) despite the fact my boss wants me to take leadership classes (wants me here for the long haul) so I can take over the roles of my previous supervisor and support him.
I have also been working towards my goals: get a car (done; it will be completely paid for by November of this year), get a house (working on it; currently looking for a 2 bed 1 bath with lot to expand or 3 bed 2 bath near BART, preferably Daly City or Colma station for under 400K though ideally, I would like a ranch-style house;), travel the world (at least Japan and Italy), do most of the things on my bucket list (I've been able to do a few, but still plenty more left), find the love of my life (my love life is non-existent at the moment), get married (gotta find my man first), and have 2 kids (preferably one boy and girl, but seriously, I'll be happy with 2 happy and healthy children). And yeah...I am so American that way... (American Dream!!!)
Unfortunately, it's taking me longer than I original thought to complete these goals since I've been helping out my family (paying for half of our bills since my sis is now graduated and looking for full time work, buying groceries for my grandparents and my family, paying for my mom's gas). Though my parents still help me out (cooking and helping with bills/living expense), I've been making breakfast and sometimes dinner for myself since I need to learn to be self-sufficient in that way. I still probably suck at baking (haven't done it in years, plus our oven is broke) but luckily my sis is good at it (we just got a brownie maker and she made some brownies for dessert 
). She can teach me the ways...

Foods to try in 2012
So I got this idea from another blog, where you list out the foods you'd like to try this year. I don't know where I'd find these foods (maybe in SF?) but I've heard they are worth trying (some of which are on the linked blog) so here it goes:
1) Foie Gras (I've heard of this but have yet to try it)
2) Thousand year old quail egg (Kevin raves about this and I want to see if its any good...you know...being the picky eater that he is....)
3) Irish Coffee at Buena Vista (Kevin, Sarah [my godsister] and Sylvia say it's really good and strong so I gotta try one ;P Yes, I realize this is a drink and not a food but still had to put it on here)
4) Prime Rib at the House of Prime Rib (been always wanting to go and never actually doing it so going to do it sometime this year...anyone want to join me? ;P)
5) Moroccan Food (I've heard its good from coworkers and friends so I want to try it out...my friend recommended Aziza if I'm going to try it in SF, 5800 Geary Blvd,)
6) Oyakodon (I love Unagi donburi and Katsudon is okay but never tried this version so thought I should add it ;P)
Anyways, although my new years resolution is to eat healthier, exercise more, save money and spend more time with friends, I think I could splurge every once in a while with one of these entrees/ drink. :P Happy new year everyone!!!

TORN!!!
I know it's been a while, but I have something on my mind that I need to get out before it consumes me...I applied for 5 positions within PG&E, 2 of which called me back for interviews (one in oakland, another in SF). Well, I really wanted the SF job (not just because of commute, but the job was more of what I wanted) though I liked the people from the Oakland job (I just didn't like the environment [felt very warehouse-ish, people yelling, and desolate out there] and the commute; takes about an hour and 20 min to get home in commute traffic; 45 minutes if its empty).
Then, on Wednesday, I found out that I didn't get the SF one (I called HR who told me they had already selected someone, but the fact that I didn't get a call from the supervisor, made me realize I didn't get it). However, today, I get a call from the Oakland job stating that I got an offer, so I thanked him for this opportunity and taking his time to interview me but I declined it since I have a couple other opportunities coming up. Then, I felt so bad cause I could tell he was shocked and blown away at my response....should I feel bad? do you think I hurt his feelings? should I apologize? I didn't take the job since I weighed all the pro's and con's:
Oakland: 1 hour and 20 minute drive (can't take public transit) during commute time [45 minutes if no heavy traffic which is highly unlikely since I'd be doing normal hours during week and even more hours on the weekend, may have to cancel vacation due to high demand for work to be done]; Work environment was warehouse-ish (yelling people, high stress) and long hours, but the people were really friendly with me. I liked the supervisor; he was friendly and funny.
San Francisco: 15 to 30 minute commute (can take either public transit or car; plenty of parking); Work environment: high stress, overworked, talkative yet busy; people were also very friendly (supervisor was a bit too serious, the oakland one was more laid back).
Ideally, I would pick a place with a nice/ decent environment, shorter/ convenient commute (45 minutes or less would be nice), engineering design/ analysis work and a great boss (pretty much what I have now with the exception of the latter three; my work is being downgraded to Project Management until we get someone in and my boss is OK)
Oh and then worse yet, I was competing with a fellow coworker (Gabe, greek guy) for that Oakland job and unfortunately a previous coworker (vince, italian guy) who is currently working under the supervisor I interviewed with told Gabe that I rejected the offer (don't know how vince found out so soon) and then Gabe was giving me a lecture on how I'll never leave this place if I didn't take the offer (but I found it flattering that I even got chosen considering I BOMBED THE TECHNICAL PORTION OF THE INTERVIEW; I am glad I am still marketable). There must of been something he liked in me...Gabe kept saying it was cause I had my EIT (he doesn't) or cause I was a woman ("obedient, pretty, etc.."; must be the greek in him talking 
) or cause I didn't have an accent (he has an accent like Jimmy and etc..) so I think Gabe was taking it bad...though Navdeep came up to me, asked me why I didn't take it and said he thinks we could make this Department (SM OC) a better place now that we are going union and he's glad I'm giving us a chance (I know Mark Luna who always tends to piss me off cause of the one time he accused me of not doing my job and pushing work on him when he fucking did that to me when I was first coming on board and Linda who always helped me make my job easier and processes more efficient which is what I always strive for
will both appreciate me staying). Seriously, I really think the SM OC has potential, but its just upper management that I don't like (their decisions tend to make things worse and not better), but I love the people and the work environment (its just the commute that's killing me, if only a job in SF would come up... I believe things happen for a reason so maybe I didn't get the SF one because of the supervisor or because something better is on the horizon ...I'll keep on believing that better opportunities will come up for me!!)

John's odd behavior/ Kevin's annoying habits
UGHHHH!!!!!!! Kevin keeps pissing me off...although he did give me a ride to the field today, he once again took forever to finish his work so I had to help him finish..I swear that boy works too damn slow for me...I've been working on projects that he was suppose to finish...but now Bill, my supervisor, has tasked them to me cause he aint getting them done fast enough, which means more work for me.Thanks to Jenny; she cheered me up with the following: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=
T-LlIRficGc As for John, I still have feelings for him...oh yeah so yesterday I brought an intern, Santee, to shadow me. So during a meeting, John comes late, while I with the help of Marlene host the meeting and then at the end of the meeting, Santee asks John why he is mugging her and looking at her with some hostility and then he goes "who are you?" and she was like "I am santee" and I cut in and say "she's shadowing me" and then santee was all like "just cause I am here doesnt mean you have to look and treat me like that" and then they started going at it (verbally fight; I assume its cause they are both aries- conflicting personalities) but then John invites himself to lunch with us and brings Navdeep (Nav for short, I really don't like this guy). I seriously find navdeep annoying at times...but then he has a bad influence on John (another reason why i don't like him...) Anyways, so I had also invited a college buddy of mine who works for PG&E (marvic). They cap on and say mean jokes to not only Santee but also Marvic. At this point, Marvic jokes along with them and Santee kinda goes in and out with the jokes so I know they were trying to make light of the situation, but I really don't know why John and Nav were so hostile with them. It was as if John and Nav didn't want them there and then Nav goes and teases me and then I tease him back but then he starts capping on my height and my red cheeks...which I seriously start getting mad at him cause I am already mad and embarrased by the way they are treating them, but when they (santee and marvic) left me...they acted normal well except Nav still kept freaking teasing me like he always does, but John was not mean or anything; he was really nice with me. So WTF was going on there?!
I asked a coworker about the situation and she thinks that he either wanted me only or he just wanted to pick fights to show off . What caught me off guard was how mean he was.... he's never treated me that mean...Sure... he can do mean jokes with me but lets just say they weren't as F***ed up as the ones he did to santee and marvic, though he was much more mean to marvic than he was to santee... My coworker thinks maybe he saw marvic as a rival, but I don't get the reason for being mean to santee...which could be true, since nav was all like "monica you have a thing for marvic huh?" and then I started walking away but for some reason, my cheeks started blushing which he automatically noted....cause in college, everyone kept saying that to me and I was like no way and started blushing cause I couldn't believe they would say that...so then that may have caused John to act the way he did....I'm still confused that a part of me wants to hit john across the head for what he did..but I really wanna know why he did that..I gotta talk to him
As for another coworker of mine, she wants me to hook up with kevin but all he does is give me more work, lies to me and annoys me (i.e. gives me way too much grief). This is as a coworker and not to mention he moves, eats, and works slow (which irks me to no end), so imagine if he was my bf, while whenever I give john an assignment, he's on it, finishes it and even lets me know hwo far he was able to take it (i.e. he copies me on his correspondences). For instance, there was a guy who need a device that John normally works on so I asked him if he could give me the order number so i could order it, but he not only gets me one to borrow, but he ships it out for me and lets me know he did it...and he did that all in one day...He wasn't like "wait up"...or "hold on one minute" or "what did you ask me?" Like Kevin does to me all the time... for example, I thought he double checked something for me; I gave him two freaking weeks. He does it the day before I need it turned in (maybe thats why I like John; he gets things done fast, completely, and he lets me know so I'm not like "hey did you do it?" like I always do with kevin and then at first he'd be like "yeah I did it"and then when I am actually gonna turn it in or use the device, he's all like "wait let me check it!" and I am like "didn't you check it already?" and he's like "no"
See what i have to go through...kevin freaking lies...and its like not little white lies but big lies you know? I mean I don't know if john has ever lied to me, yet from what i know, hes always told the truth except its still questionable about the girlfriend thing (though he insists he doesn't have one). Everything else he was honest about....man so much crap going down...but kevin is really starting to get on my nerves...and now I know not to introduce John to potential bfs or my girlfriends who he may not like?!...though I don't get why he didn't like santee
